The Nightmare Curator

Myself and Elli Wade (from @yourspookymom) created a monthly zine focused on amplifying underrepresented voices in indie horror. Authors, artists, creatives, and enthusiasts make up this incredible community and we wanted to provide a platform to encompass the creativity and critical thought in the space.

The monthly release includes interviews, articles, recommendations, and ads supporting other creatives in the horror space. All of which I creative directed and illustrated, and designed the layout interior.

GONNA START A WYATT

Kyndacee Harris, the amazing authoress behind this future release, asked me to bring her lovely passion project to life. After reading, I was blown away by Wyatt Jones and her fight for birthday equality! We really wanted to build out a children’s book that could easily be viewed as art and collected by adults but wasn’t serious. I used a “jazzy,” muted, but saturated color palette that relied on shapes and movement to build out Wyatt’s world from her bright point of view.

Wyatt Jones is a starting kindergarten and is a star student until she has a rude awakening when she finds out that summer birthdays get looked over in the classroom. Follow as Wyatt protests, “petishuns", and strikes to find equality in the classroom!
